The Peter Scene Ogden Trail
Getting there: Only 12 minutes from town and easy to find, enter “Peter Skene Ogden Trailhead” in to your GPS app, it’ll take you right there.
What to expect:
An out-and-back hike along Paulina Creek, you can hike 3 miles each way to the waterfall at McKay Crossing, or 9 miles each way to Paulina Lake for a longer full day hike. If you don’t have time to make it to McKay Crossing you can turn around at any time and still have a wonderful quick hike along the creek. A moderate slope makes for a good workout but isn’t difficult if you want to take it slow. Since it’s so close to town and such a lovely hike, there can be quite a few people here after work and on the weekends in summer, so you may need to keep your dogs on leash at peak times. During weekdays or outside of summer, there aren’t many people. There can be bicycles and horses at times so keep your eyes open. There are places along the trail for your dogs to wade in and splash around in the creek, just be sure your dogs have a good recall for safety. The trail is well shaded for the summer, and can be covered in snow in winter through March.
Iz fun and so close for quick walkies and sniff-venture! I get to splash in water and run around for zoomies. Sometimes the horseys leave #2 treatos so watch out, I not supposeded eat dem. Iz good for last minute, hoodad sez “who wants to go for a hike” and I say “meeeeee” den we jump in car and go. Don’t ferget water and poo baggies.
