About La Pine

La Pine is a rural community located in southern Deschutes County near the Newberry Volcanic National Monument and Paulina Peak, home of East Lake and Paulina Lake (where the state record Brown Trout was caught).  A seven square mile portion of La Pine was incorporated in 2007 making it one of Oregon’s newest cities.

Most lots are 1 acre with their own well and septic systems.  Most of our roads are graded dirt.

The Cascade Lakes region of Central Oregon surrounds La Pine. Tourists are attracted to the region by recreational activities that include hunting, fishing, swimming, sailing, canoeing, water skiing, wind surfing, backpacking, camping, golfing, mountain biking, white water rafting, spelunking, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling.

At 4235 feet, La Pine has the highest elevation of any community within the Central Oregon region. This advantage makes it a winter wonderland for all types of snow-related recreation. Summers are warm, welcoming equal numbers of summer recreational activities. See our Recreation menu at the top of the page to see “The Outdoors at Your Front Door”.
